Emma studied natural sciences at the University of Cambridge before undertaking a PhD in developmental biology at King's College London, UK. She has substantial experience in scientific publishing, including the development of open access journals at the BMC series and PLOS Medicine and as a Collections Editor for The BMJ. She has strong interests in maternal and child health, women's health, and sex and gender in research. She joined Nature Health in August 2026 and handles manuscripts related to public health and epidemiology. She is based in the Nature Health London office.
