Farhad Imam has been an Advisor to the OpenAI Foundation since September 2026. From November 2021 to August 2026 he was a Director of Health and Life Sciences at Gates Ventures. Prior to that he was a Program Officer for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, particularly focused on identifying diagnostics, devices, and therapeutics to improve maternal, newborn, and child health. He gained his MD and PhD at Stanford University, moving to Harvard University to be a resident, followed by a clinical fellowship.
